About Dr. Kevin Peter Schoenfelder, MD
Dr. Kevin Peter Schoenfelder, MD, emerged from the serene landscapes of Minnesota, where his formative years were steeped in the values of diligence and academic pursuit. He was an exemplary student at Macalester College in St. Paul, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Biology in 1974. His scholarly endeavors did not halt there; he advanced to earn a Master’s in Quantitative Genetics from the University of Minnesota in 1975, demonstrating an early aptitude for complex scientific concepts that would later define his medical career.
He continued his education at the University of Minnesota Medical School, earning his MD in 1979 with honors that underscored his academic prowess, including induction into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honors Society. His postgraduate journey began with an internship at the University of California, San Francisco, spanning 1979 to 1980, followed by a residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Washington until 1984. During this period, Dr. Schoenfelder’s remarkable aptitude for research and patient care became evident, culminating in the award for Best Resident Paper in 1984.
Dr. Schoenfelder’s transition to academia was a natural progression. He took on the Instructor of Orthopedic Surgery role at the University of Washington, where he shaped the surgical skills of future specialists. His expertise also brought him overseas as a Traveling Faculty member to the University of Hokkaido in Japan in 1984 and to the University of Hong Kong in 1985 for a spine and pediatric orthopedics fellowship. These experiences broadened his professional horizons and infused his practices with global perspectives.
